Incredible authentic southern & northern lndian street food. Dosas were fantastic. Pakoras had a very light batter that complemented the flavor of the veggies. Samosa chat excellent. Friendly staff and service was great considering they were hopping.

I RARELY eat Indian food--but I'm so glad that my wife was craving this cuisine, specifically Dilbar. I let her doing the ordering because she had been here before and had some favorites in mind. I cannot wait to come back here and chow down on more. Parking (as-is everywhere) in this part of Asheville can be tough, so just plan ahead.

I finally got around to trying Dilbar today. For me, it totally LIVED UP TO THE HYPE! If you like Indian food, but are feeling adventurous, this is the perfect spot to try! They don't shy away from Indian flavors here! It's a casual, order at the counter restaurant, seat yourself and pick up your food when they call your number kind of place. But food is made-fresh-to-order. They have a large menu with some unique menu items that you won't see anywhere else in Asheville. They also have interesting Indo-Chinese dishes as well as a lot of Indian street food favorites. Today we ordered: Chicken Momos, Szechuan Chicken Fried Rice and a Chicken Tikka Masala Dosa. The Chicken Momos were tasty little pillows of goodness tossed in what tasted like a soy-based Szechuan sauce, which is a little different than I've had them, but in a good way! If you like Chinese dumplings, momos are similar to those. The Szechuan Chicken Fried Rice was dynamite! The incredibly flavorful szechuan flavor and the combination of the chicken, rice and egg, with that touch of oil made it hard to put my spoon down. The Dosa (a thin crepe) was HUGE. I've never seen one quite like it. Usually I've eaten the smaller pancake sized ones. It has a slightly sweet flavor and a crisp delicate texture. We tore off a piece and loaded it up with some outstanding, creamy, Chicken Tikka Masala that had that perfect level of spice and ginger. It was served with a white coconut and a red tomato chutney sauce. You can build your own bite and the sauces really complimented the dish. I couldn't decide which was my favorite. There was also what I believe was a vegetable soup on the side that had a tangy tamarind like flavor. Dilbar will be in my regular restaurant rotation for sure!

I tried to get into Chai Pani, but the wait was 3 hours for a bar seat. Instead, I went to this location. It turned out to be the right decision. If you want to sit-down restaurant with service, maybe you need to stick with Chai Pani. But if you're fine ordering like you would at a fast food restaurant, and then picking up your food and eating it while you watch some Bollywood, then this is a better place. Everyone working behind the counter is Punjabi, and they know how to make the food taste good. And when I say it tastes good, the chaat made me groan in delight. So many wonderful flavors married together in one dish: Little bit of sweet, little bit of tangy, little bit of savory. Good texture, too. Everything that Chaat ought to be. The presentation is not the best, since it's more like fast food, but that's what real street food is all about. The ambience of the restaurant is all India. They also have some good sweets and drinks available.

Yes yes yes. 100% yes. I was recommended this place by my tattoo artist and it is my Asheville indian favorite. The food is phenomenal. We tried a little bit of a lot of dishes and I had to push away from the table. I could've sat there all day long and ate. If you're second guessing whether or not you should try it, do yourself a favor. It's truly delicious and I cannot wait to eat it again.

If you are OK with eating and small paper and styrofoam plates, this may be the place for you. This place does Indian street food really well. You can't go wrong with any of their dishes, and they are all moderately priced for the area. You can expect to pay $12-$16 for any dish. The reason I give a four-star is because seating is not that convenient. If you are a party greater than four people, there's only one high table that could accommodate you. Otherwise, everything else is either 2 to 4 people. They also had an outside a small area to sit, however the chairs were not clean, and the heater was not on.
